I was 4 years old when HIV AIDS stole my childhood, ripped away my moms life, and devastated my fathers life. No matter what path you walk, this disease is horrendous. I found out my Dad had AIDS in junior high, I overheard doctors and they said “t cells” my world spun. At the time I had no clue what that meant, all I knew was my dad was skin and bones and fighting for his life. My parents relationship didn’t make it but they remained friends, so together they decided to tell me while he was in the hospital. I was handed a book and told to ask as many questions as possible. I was angry...sad, frustrated, confused... why us? Why my family? My dad got better, I became educated. I’ve always wanted to help those suffering and just recently made the decision to help those in need by becoming a nurse. This stigma has to end, the hands need to be open for those alone fighting. I walk for my Father, I walk for my Mother, I walk for those that pushed me away as their friend because I was “infected” too because I was my fathers daughter, I walk for those not educated and misinformed, and walk for research and resources. If you can’t walk, donate please, any amount would help. Thank you in advance ❤️ ——I’m participating in this year’s AIDS Walk Los Angeles, a 10K fundraising walk to fight the epidemic. Thank you for considering a donation! Every dollar we raise helps APLA Health stop new infections and support people living with HIV/AIDS—-
